My very first entry! I'll add a poem, it feels like a good way to start.
This poem is at the beginning of the title track of my album, sand dollars in a silver pail. I got my best friends in the whole world to each record themselves saying a line:
Over the grapevine they kept
Travel magnets on the fridge
Stocked with pears and heavy cream
My great aunts are kitchen witches
I thought by now I’d be salting scrambled eggs
In the city adjacent they kept
Traditional Japanese decor
An old yeller and swimming pool
My cousins and I spent 4th of July as mermaids
I thought by now I’d be setting off morning glories
Off the bay they kept
Sand dollars in a silver pail
The back porch always baby blue and dewy
My grandpa and I ate cherries
We spit the pits into the ditch
I thought by now a cherry tree would’ve grown
